Setup order flow control on your kitchen display to manage incoming orders

Order Lifecycle

The lifecycle of an order is as follows:

  • Creating. This is the state of the order while it’s being build by the customer.

  • Pending*. When an order has been checked out by a customer it becomes pending until it is accepted or refused. The default behaviour is that the order is accepted automatically, and the Ordin Store Display needs to be used to manually accept or decline orders.

  • Live*. Once an order has been accepted, it becomes live. This means that it needs to be prepared. This state is skipped by default, and the Ordin Store Display needs to be used to manage live orders.

  • Ready*. Once an order has been prepared it becomes ready. This means that the order has been completed but still needs to be handed over to the customer. This state is skipped by default, and the Ordin Store Display needs to be used to manage ready orders.

  • Completed. This is the final state of a successful order. A completed order has both been prepared and handed over to the customer.

As described above, only the creating and completed states are available by default. This might be sufficient in some cases, but it’s gives the store very limited control over their orders. To give the store more control of both their POS and Online Orders, the Superb Kitchen Display can be used.

Order Flow Control Settings

Go to the store settings to enable control over the life cycle steps that you want.

Enable the Use Ordin Store Display to make the Order Flow Control settings visible in the settings below.

OBS - all of the settings below will be ignored if theres no Ordin Store Display Station created.

You can read how to setup a Kitchen Display here:

Once enabled the Store display settings - POS settings will appear. Here you can decide to enable the Ready state and decide if you want to manually complete orders.

In the Store display settings section it’s now possible to enable the Manually accept orders, Manually complete orders and Use ready state. These settings can also be configured uniquely for each Order Type by enabling the Define custom order settings for the desired Order Type.

Manually accept orders

This setting is only available for online orders and not POS orders. With this setting enabled online orders must be manually accepted in the Ordin Store Display.

Manually complete orders

If there’s no Store Display enabled, orders will complete immediately. If there is a Store Display enabled, orders containing products that require preparation while orders that doesn’t contain products that require preparation will have to be completed automatically. If the store want to manually complete all orders regardless of whether or not they require preparation, enable this feature. This setting is available for both POS and Online orders.

Use ready state

Enable this setting to place prepared orders into a ready state while they’re waiting to be picked up or handed over to the customer. This setting is available for both POS and Online orders.

Store Display Settings

In the store display settings you can configure which of these order states should appear on the screen.
