How to manage gift card expiration

Gift card expiration is set at the moment a gift card is created. The Gift card expiration setting in your Partner portal controls the expiration applied to all gift cards created from that point forward.

You can always extend the duration time of a gift card manually. You cannot shorten the gift card duration time.

How gift card expiration works

Each gift card receives its expiration date at the moment of creation, based on the Gift card expiration setting active at that time.

  • Changing the Gift card expiration setting never affects existing gift cards
  • Each existing gift card retains the expiration date it was assigned when created
  • The current setting applies only to gift cards created after the change is saved

Example:

  • Gift card A created on 01.06.26 with a 1-year setting → expires 01.06.27
  • Setting changed to 3 years
  • Gift card B created on 02.06.26 → expires 02.06.29
  • Setting changed to 2 years
  • Gift card C created on 03.06.26 → expires 03.06.28

Gift card A's expiration is unaffected by either change.

Update the gift card expiration setting

  1. Go to Settings → Gift Cards in Partner
  2. Locate Gift card expiration
  3. Enter the desired duration
  4. Click Save

All gift cards created after saving will use the new expiration duration.

Note: A duration is always required. Before setting an expiration period, check whether your country has a legal minimum duration requirement for gift cards.
