How to set up tips on your payment terminal

Tipping on a payment terminal lets guests add a tip when they pay by card. Tipping is set up for each terminal.

Turn on tipping

1. Go to Hardware → Terminals.
2. Open the terminal and go to Terminal settings.
3. Open Tipping configuration.
4. Turn on tipping.
5. Save.

Set tip options

You can show up to three tip options to the guest. Each option is a percentage or a fixed amount.

1. In Tipping configuration, add a tip option.
2. Enter a number.
3. Choose % for a percentage, or the currency for a fixed amount.
4. Repeat for up to three options.
5. Save.

Remove an option with the remove icon next to the option.

Let guests enter their own tip

1. In Tipping configuration, turn on Custom tip amount.
2. Save.

Guests now see a field to type their own tip, next to the tip options. Tip options and a custom tip can be used at the same time.

Tips with Tap to Pay

Guests can also tip during a Tap to Pay payment when tips are turned on for your account.
